Manila - In it's ongoing effort to strengthen RA 8485 otherwise known as the Animal Welfare Law, Animal Kingdom Foundation Inc. (AKF Inc.) has pledged to the Animal Welfare Committee full support for the publication of the Administrative Orders / Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Transport of Dogs and Cats and the Rules of Engagement for the Arrest of Violators.

It can be recalled that for a law and its subsequent administrative orders and implementing rules and regulations to be implemented it has to undergo a public hearing of concerned parties and be published in a newspaper of general circulation.

Fully aware that publication in a newspaper involves a substantial amount of money, and likewise concerned that the Committee of Animal Welfare is financially challenged, AKF Inc. came to the rescue!

Through its President Charles Wartenberg, Animal Kingdom Foundation Inc. pledged to the Chairman of the Animal Welfare Committee, Dr. Enrique Carlos, the full financial support of the publication of said Administrative Order / Implementing Rules and Regulation. As of press time, the said AO has already pass its final discussion and was approved in the public hearing conducted by the Committee on Animal Welfare. It is now awaiting signature by the Secretary of Agriculture for its publication and final passage into law. (SALL.)

The Animal Rescue Centre

Manila - This has been in the works for sometime now, finally it's coming out! In a unanimous decision by the Board of Trustees of the Animal Kingdom Foundation Inc, they approved to start initial moves for the construction of a rescue and rehabilitation centre for animals.

The said centre will be in a two to four hectare spread and will house kennels and shelters for the rescued animals, a veterinary clinic / hospital, research centre and housing facilities for the staff.

The centre will be ideally located in a nice woody area where the animals can run free and is about two hours drive from Metro Manila. This centre will be the fulfillment of AKF Inc.'s President Charles Wartenberg's dream wherein rescued animals can be brought to a place where they will be taken cared of, and free to live out their natural lives.

The necessary funding for this centre has already been made available by our mother organization in the United Kingdom, the International Wildlife Coalition Trust. The AKF Inc. is now in the thick of final negotiations for the purchase of the proposed site. (SALL.)
